 From Medog to Pai = From Arctic to Equator

Yarlung Zanbbo Canyon

    One-day journey from Pai to Doxong La. Tourists can make use of the highways and or occasionally walk on foot to experience the vertical natural landscapes in the northern slope of Doxong La. From the "flag trees" region in the south-west side of Doxong La mountain go downwards, as the elevation lows down, needle-leaved forests, which are mainly hemlocks and spruces, will appear before your eyes; setting against the snow-covered

mountains, there are many kinds of small broad-leaved forests, which look as if their leaves are dyed into red in autumn; green is mingled with golden and red, the autumn here is extremely beautiful; downward again, you'll find pine woods and bamboo woods; in the early summer, all varieties of azalea vie with one another in their full blooms and make it a garden full of spring; down to the foot of the mountain, the tourists can experience the landscapes of the middle and down-stream of the Yarlung Zangbo River and the enriched forest resource of Doxong La mountain; or experience the return to nature.

    6-10 days journey from Paixiang to Medog via Doxong La and   Baibung. This journey will take the tourists from Paixiang in el. 4000 m to the Yarlung Zangbo valley in el. 700 m; the tourists will experience the four seasons in one mountain and will visit different vertical natural zones. During the journey, the tourists will feel that they are climbing down from the polar region to places near the equator or from the snow-ice belt to the sub-tropical zone; they will have deep impression on the tropical and sub-tropical landscapes there as well as the customs of Mamba people and Lhoba people.
